These projections are compressed from the die's side surface preventing scrap retention.Since the slanted grooves are not machined in a spiral pattern but in opposite directions, so there is no rotation of the scrap together with the punch in its upward stroke. (refer to drawing on right) The scrap retention processing (Numbers and depth of slanted grooves) is accorded to the standard of Punch Industry. If the scrap retention function is inadequately performed, add the slanted grooves by alteration SRC in order to increase the compression force. (Available for round type P≧4.0, grooves are averagely processed on max. 6 positions.)The length of slanted groove for regrinding is between 2mm and the thickness of work piece. For calculate the product accuracy by the cross-section or scrap, please consider following affections.・Penetration and cross section become greater while shear section become smaller since the local clearance of slanted groove has been processed greater.・The scraps have little projections formed in them corresponding to the slanted grooves. The scrap retention function may be insufficient in the effects due to a number of conditions such as different material and clearance. Please set more penetration of punch and die. To realize the function of scrap retention, sufficient penetration is necessary. The departures of projections which varies by penetrations are shown in table 2. Departure of projections becomes greater along with deeper penetration, so set more penetration within the allowable range. The regrinding will shorten the length of groove. The scrap retention function may be insufficient if the grooves length is between 2.0mm to thickness of work piece. For alteration BC, when shaped hole length is shortened less than 2mm, slanted groove length is equal to BC.For minimize the effect on products and scraps, please refer to the table 3 of slanted groove processing standard.ID.
